CERTIFIED LOCAL MOUNTAIN GUIDES
Who we are
We are local mountain guides in the Dolomites, exploring with you all over the Alps and beyond.
Freewheeling Dolomites mountain guides are, first and foremost, obsessed with mountains and taken over by the climbing bug. Our UIAGM/IFMGA certification guarantees reliability, however our distinguished trait is the enthusiasm we put in our jobs. We like to couple mountaineering with play! However it’s not just with passion, but also with competence and experience that we can turn an ascent into a thoroughly joyful journey, without risks or inconveniences. Our job is to make the most of every bit of experience we carry, allowing to discover together the pleasures of stay out in the mountains. When you write to us, don’t expect a secretary to answer you: we believe that the better way for you to get the best customised plan, is to talk with your assigned guide from the start.
The guides of our small group are living in the Dolomites, but our exploration extends beyond. You can trust us to organise climbing and mountaineering tours throughout the Alps and climbing trips in Sardinia, Spain, Greece and beyond.
Here we are… colleagues, friends and adventure partners
The mountains teach us we are both alone and together.
The foundation of our tours in 4 simple conceps
1. BEST FIT
We believe that the best activity or place you can visit is the one that fits you. Tired of top ten lists and crowded beaten tracks, we want to be with you on your “best of”. With our experience and high level of training, we’ll put together your desires, skills and environmental conditions and take you one step further for an unforgettable experience. Desired, planned, done.
3. ADVICE AND MOTIVATION
Our guides are dedicated to helping you grow with each experience. Throughout the tour, you’ll receive personalized tips and advice to improve your technique and boost your confidence. Whether it’s navigating tough terrain or mastering a new skill, we provide guidance and motivation that will stay with you for future adventures.
2. SAFELY THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS
Every choice must be made with safety first in mind. We want to exceed your expectations, to see you happy and proud, but nothing can guide our decisions before safety. Especially for very demanding activities, we will ask you for detailed information about your preparation and, if necessary, do a test day before the activity.
4. EMPATHY
Guiding someone through the mountains is as much about understanding the people as it is about the terrain. We know the challenges you may face – both physically and emotionally – and our priority is to create a trusting, supportive connection. We aim to make sure you feel confident and secure, every step of the way.
Certified mountain ski and climbing guides.
UIAGM/IFMGA certified mountain ski and climbing guides, are the only internationally recognised professional instructors who can guide people in the mountains.
UIAGM stands for Union Internationale des Associations de Guides de Montagnes, while IFMGA stands for International Federation of Mountain Guide Associations.
Before applying, each wannabe UIAGM/IFMGA guide must be a very competent mountaineer. They are then selected through practical exams to take part in the extended course, which lasts 4 years. After passing the final exams, they are ready to take on the responsibility of looking after the safety and well-being of their clients. This is why a UIAGM/IFMGA certified guide guarantees professionalism and competence, as well as the sheer passion that only those who live and breathe the mountains 365 days a year can offer.
FreeDolomites is a small group of guides who are proud to put all their passion and expertise into organizing customized plans for their clients.
